In this episode we covered a topic we haven’t broached yet: progesterone dominance. Typically it’s estrogen dominance that’s a hormone trouble maker but you can also get too much of a good thing like progesterone as well. We cover the symptoms and causes of this less common issue. In this show we also tackled a very big issue: what do you do when your work or just your preference requires lots of social events and there’s always booze, gluten, diary, sugar and other foods you may feel better avoiding?

Talk about a special show! In this episode we had Sarah’s 14 year old son, Jaden, join us to talk about what it’s been like having parents so immersed in health and wellness as well as many issues facing teenagers today. Jaden gave a unique view into how to talk more effectively to our children about sensitive subjects and how often the answer to having better communication with our kids is simply respect. In this episode we dove into paleo and AIP for autoimmune issues, where to start and how to transition to a broader range of foods in time. Most importantly we covered what to do if you don’t get better on these template diets! Today was a very special episode with the lovely and inspiring Kim Schaper! Kim works with women to feel their best in their bodies and with their mindset. Her story is fascinating as she battled anorexia where she was down to about 70lbs and then through her recovery gained 100lbs – so she’s experienced it all. Kim is now a healthy, muscular strength coach that has gleaned lessons on all sides of the body image struggle. In this episode we covered what’s the same for Kim through all her phases, what’s been different and how maybe not to these extremes but we all see ourselves in Kim’s story. On a request from our Better Everyday Inner Circle group we didn’t do Q&A today, no health expert guest and no talk of the gym or hormones. Instead we are pulling back the curtain – by about twenty years! We both share very personal stories about lessons we learned in our early twenties thanks to two really bad marriages. We’re back with Q&A today and our first one was a doozy! We discussed what a saliva cortisol panel can and can’t tell you, when you should be digging into the deeper causes or stress vs. when it’s more related to lifestyle and how to know if your stress management tools like exercise may be causing MORE stress. We recapped what our ACES (appetite, cravings, energy and sleep) acronym is all about and how it’s the language of your hormones so we need to tune in and heed that message! In the case of this question her hormones were saying peanut butter and chocolate chips,  other days they say wine, but either way they are signals we can use to do better and stop fighting our hormones. We also tackled a great question on PCOS and intermittent fasting.
