With your host Dr Brooke Kalanick, functional medicine doctor and female hormone expert, you’ll sift through the nonsense and get to what matters most for your hormones and your happiness. Deep dive with expert interviews as well as Dr. Brooke’s solo episodes will give you the solutions you need. Dr Brooke is a speaker, author, and unlike most online experts: still a doc in full-time practice working with real women every day. Like you, she is navigating the moving target that is female hormones through the years and trying to live life more like interval training vs. a marathon: work hard but also recover, learning when to have more grit or when to have more grace. Oh, and also trying not to give her kids too much to talk about in therapy someday. Her promise to you is at least one actionable takeaway from each episode to help you BETTER today. Dena and her family uprooted their very American life with homework, play practice and soccer games for nine months of adventure in Southeast Asia. Here what she learned about herself and her family as well as her experience of the vivid contrast of self-care, maternal support and womanhood in the East vs. what we know in the West. Functional and Naturopathic doctor Jolene Brighten joins us to talk all about hormonal birth control and Post Birth Control Syndrome. Over half of the women taking birth control are using it for reasons other than preventing pregnancy and women are rarely given the full scoop about the risks of the pill when it’s prescribed.
